MASDAR Desalination

Empereal was chosen to set up its Linear Fresnel (LFR) system to produce hot water for use by the solar desalination plants at the facility including the Forward Osmosis system by Trevi and the Membrane Distillation system by Abengoa. The 154 square metre Empereal LFR system produced 6000 litres of hot water at 85 degrees Celsius every day. A fully optimized single-axis tracking system ensured the continuous production of hot water at the required temperatures with the flow of water automatically regulated based on the ambient solar radiation. All operating parameters of the plant were recorded for analysis of seasonal performance and fine-tuning.
