Harsha Engineers Limited was awarded the project under Gujarat Solar Mission Phase-II. The project site is adjacent to Tarapur Village, Anand District, in the state of Gujarat. Harsha Engineers is not new to renewable energy projects, as they already own a few wind-energy projects, and are very excited to add Solar Energy projects into their portfolio. Harsha Engineers is one of the first large-scale solar photovoltaic project developers in India.
The power plant covers 30,270 sq. mt and comprises 2,184 polycrystalline modules and 3,454 thin-film modules.
Four PV modules with a south-facing slope angle of 25° are installed on 2.50 meter high racks. Four central inverters convert the photovoltaic direct current into alternating current. A monitoring system provides constant monitoring of the power plant’s performance. At its peak operating capacity, the plant will generate about 1,600 kWh/kWp of electricity annually, sufficient to meet the annual electricity needs of 2,500 households.
Being one of the earliest installations in India, the project was completed within 20 weeks from the date of commencement through to successful grid connection.
