The Vallur Thermal Power Station is operated by NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company Limited, a joint venture between NTPC Limited and TANGEDCO. The power plant is located in the Thiruvallur district, Chennai, India. The plant consumes 4.62 megatonnes of coal per year, adding approximately 24 million units to the grid on a daily basis.
Empereal KGDS won the bid to setup a solar thermal desalination plant at NTPC Vallur. The solar thermal plant was designed to use solar collectors to produce the hot water required for a Multiple Effect Distillation System to produce potable quality water. The plant is currently under commissioning activity.
